Figurative as Concept

Group Exhibition — Open Call

ARTMETOD Art Project & Aspace Gallery NYC invite artists based in New York and the US to submit work for Figurative as Concept — a group exhibition dedicated to figurative art as a living, evolving practice.

All styles are welcome. Whether you work in classical representation, surrealism, expressionism, or any other approach, what we are looking for is intention. We want to hear why you choose figurative art, how it functions in your practice, and what it means to you as an artist today. This exhibition is an open dialogue, not a manifesto.

Accepted media

Painting · Drawing · Analogue Photography · Printmaking · Graphic work · Works on paper

Not accepted

Abstract work · Collage · AI-generated, digital, or digitally manipulated work

All submitted work must be entirely hand-produced.

Practical information

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING

Selected artists will be notified on April 14. Works must arrive by April 20 — this leaves a very short window for shipping. If you are not confident your work can arrive in time, we encourage you to wait for a future opportunity.

NYC-based artists may arrange a personal drop-off instead of shipping. Details will be provided upon selection.

All works must be ready to hang and fully dry. Graphic works must be framed with plexiglas only — no glass. A prepaid return label must be included in the package. ARTMETOD and Aspace Gallery are not responsible for works in transit.

Selected artists will be contacted individually with the shipping address and all further details.
